Start their journey with an exclusive JCU experience

High schools are invited to bring their Year 10 and 11 students along to an exclusive Open Day event. Previously known as UniX Senior, Open Day for Schools is tailored to help students with senior subject selection and post-school decision making through exploration of study and career opportunities.

Held on the days before the public Open Days in Cairns and Townsville, students will benefit from a quieter environment with more one-on-one time to discover their future opportunities.

Students can explore their local JCU campus to get a taste of uni life, discover courses, pathways and scholarships, and chat with current students and staff.

For students or schools unable to attend this exclusive event, we encourage you to register to attend JCU’s Open Day on Saturday 13 July in Townsville or Saturday 27 July in Cairns.

Frequently Asked Questions

Year 10 and 11 students can come along with their school to Open Day for Schools. The public open days are held the following day and we encourage interested Year 12 students and famililes to attend those events.
JCU Townsville: Saturday 13 July
JCU Cairns: Saturday 27 July

Yes, schools need to register their attendance for this event.
We'll also need to check in each student on the day. We know your students will be keen to start exploring all the displays and activities as soon as they arrive, so we encourage students to pre-register to save time. Please share the online student registration link, available in the Schools Information Booklet, with your students and their parents so that they can complete their student registration form in advance of attending Open Day for Schools.

The event is from 10 am to 2 pm. We encourage schools to arrive early and stay for the duration of the event to get the most out of the day. Tours and presentations commence from 10.10 am and conclude at 1.50 pm.

Students are to wear their school uniform with enclosed shoes. As this is an outdoor event, we also encourage students to be sun safe by wearing hats and sun cream.

Lunch won’t be provided for students and teachers however there are a range of food and drink options available on campus should you or your students wish to purchase something.

A residential program is available in Townsville for schools travelling from regional and remote areas. We urge schools to register residential placements as early as possible via the schools registration form. Please let us know how many students will be attending and we'll be in contact to confirm your itinerary. Unfortunately, we are unable to run the Residential Program in Cairns due to no room availability at on-campus accommodation facilities. We apologise for the inconvenience.
