What is QTAC?

The Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC) operates a centralised tertiary application service. QTAC assess applications using entry requirements that are provided by JCU and then make offers to successful applicants during offer rounds.

How do I apply?

Does it cost money to submit an application with QTAC?

Yes.
Application fee for 2018 Year 12 Students
• $43 on time.

Application fee for non-school leavers
• $73 on time.
• $172 late.

Will my application be processed if I don’t pay the application fee?

Show

QTAC will not process your application until payment has been received.

What are my payment options?

Show

• Mastercard or Visa at the time of application
• BPAY using internet banking with your financial institution
• Cash, credit card, EFTPOS (Debit card) or money order at our office (if you select BPAY as your payment method).

When do applications open?

Applications open on 2 August 2018.

When do applications close?

Show

Submitting your application on time will ensure that you receive an offer as early as possible. This will allow you to properly plan your first semester of study.

Bachelor of Dental Surgery, Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery, Bachelor of Veterinary Science, Bachelor of Physiotherapy close on 30 September 2018

Bachelor of Health Science (Physician Assistant) closes on 31 October 2018.

Bachelor of Nursing Science, Bachelor of Midwifery closes on 30 November 2018

Diploma of Higher Education closes 5th February 2019

On time application for all other courses are due by 5th February 2019

Can I change my preference?

The QTAC entry process has regular ‘offer rounds’, giving you the opportunity to change preferences. You can change your preference both before and after you've been made an offer. If changing you preference before you've been made an offer, make sure you check QTAC key dates

18th of December 2018 is the final date to change preferences for the QTAC 20 December offer round. The change of preference must be finalised before 10am

8 January 2018 is the final date to change preferences for the QTAC 16 January offer round. The change of preference must be finalised before 4.30pm.

Does it costs money to change my preference?

The first three times are FREE, each change after is $43.

Can I apply without knowing my OP?

How many courses can I apply for?

Show

You can apply for up to six courses. Listing six preferences helps maximise your chances of getting an offer.

How do I order my preferences?

Show

You can use the following tips as a guide:
Preferences 1 and 2 are your desired courses
List the courses you really want to study, even if you don’t think you will be offered a place.


Preferences 3 and 4 are your back-up course choices
Courses you're likely to receive an offer for, something you are interested in, alternative career area, another way of studying, an upgrading pathway.


Preferences 5 and 6 are your pathway courses
Courses you are willing to study if you miss out on all your other preferences. You should be sure you are going to receive an offer for these courses.

I'm worried I won't get into the course I want, what are my options?

You should think about your options for upgrading, and include some of them in your preferences. This does not apply for all courses, however with additional study you may be able to satisfy the entry requirements for your dream courses.

Do I have to sit a STAT test?

Show

STAT test is not accepted for applicants in Year 12 2018. JCU will accept the use of the STAT Test to obtain a rank if applicants are not a Current Year 12 student and are 18 years of age by 1 February 2019 for Semester 1 2019 entry, or by 1 July 2019 for Semester 2 2019 entry.

When will I receive my offer?

Depending on the course you have applied for, refer to QTAC key dates webpage. If you are already eligible for the course you have applied for before secondary results are released, you could receive an offer as soon as school finishes. This might occur if you have previously completed study at TAFE or if you have applied for an open access course.

Why won’t the application accept my student number?

If you're in year 12 in Queensland, you must enter your Learner Unique Identifier (LUI) number to complete your application - Find your LUI here

QTAC Applications Open.

30 September 2018

Dentistry, Medicine, Veterinary and Physiotherapy applications close.

31 October 2018

Health Science (Physician Assistant) applications close.

30 November 2018

Nursing / Nursing and Midwifery applications close.

14 December 2018

QTAC due date to apply and submit documentations for the 16 January offer round and submit documents and/or change preferences for the 20 December offer round.

17 December 2018

Final date to change preferences for the QTAC 20 December offer round. The change of preference must be finalised before 10am.

End of December 2018

Results posted to Queensland Year 12 students by the QCAA. Queensland Year 12 students can access results online.

8 January 2019

Final date to change preferences for the QTAC 16 January offer round. The change of preference must be finalised before 4.30p.m.
