"The main thing I discovered during my first semester of uni, is you need to rely heavily on yourself when upholding your course commitments – this includes turning up to classes, keeping track of due dates and not letting yourself get behind in studies. With the given responsibilities, the JCU Rising Star Scholarship helped to relieve any further stress I had about university fees. Knowing I had that extra financial aid allowed me to commit to my studies and fully enjoy university life. "
"The scholarship has enabled me to pursue my career as a registered nurse through JCU. Developing my skill set at Smithfield High set me up for a smooth transition to uni life. The scholarship has given me the support and confidence to further enhance my academic and clinical skills. The financial assistance has allowed me to fully embrace my student experience, affording me the ability to commit to my studies full time without feeling the pressure to work to support myself and giving me greater financial freedom."
